Dr. D. P. Ramesh is one of the pioneers in the field of Ayurveda and a well-known practising doctor of the last few decades. He has treated many patients through the Panchagavya method — a part of Ayurveda — and has helped many people affected by long-term illness, including cancer. He has been successful in supporting patients through the Panchagavya method as a complement to conventional care, with particularly encouraging results in breast cancer.
To spread the treatment across Karnataka and other states, Dr. Ramesh travels extensively — around 20 days a month — organising free medical camps that spread awareness of Ayurveda and the Panchagavya method. He practises in Bangalore at the Ayurveda Panchagavya Speciality Health Care and Research Center, Vyalikaval.

Service & relief work
- Part of a 1994 mega cycle rally from Bangalore to Mysore to create awareness of Ayurveda, visiting hundreds of villages and treating thousands at free camps

- Drafted an outline for the development of Ayurveda in Karnataka and brought it to the notice of the Government of Karnataka
- Served over 15 days in the Odisha cyclone relief effort, and in the relief work in tsunami-affected areas
- Awarded his medical degree by a Government Ayurvedic University in 1993
